One of Hawaii’s most sought-after destinations unveils a new experience for its guests…and you could be amongst Hollywood company

Nestled along the dramatic Kohala Coast and in the piko, or centre, of five great mountains, Mauna Lani is a sacred oasis where generations of families and friends have made memories together on soulful lands once cherished by the greatest of Hawaiian royalty.
This stunning hotel has now unveiled an epic experience adding to their enriching cultural programming, celebrating the Island of Hawaii’s cherished connection to the land and the sea.
“Regulars of this amazing hotel are said to include George Clooney, the Obama’s, Gwyneth Paltrow and Matthew McCounaghey, to name a few”

Launched in conjunction with World Reef Day, and allowing guests to become at one with Hawaii’s moana (the sea), Reef Protection and Spearfishing Lessons are now being offered to guests. Alongside Mauna Lani’s Kainalu Pros, guests can learn the traditional ways of spearfishing – a centuries-old hunting practice using a speargun and sling. With Hawaii home to invasive fish species such as the Roi (Peacock Grouper) and the To’au (Blacktail Snapper), the experience is leveraged for coral reef protection and the removal of such predators lends well to the health of the reef ecosystem. To complete the experience, guests are invited to compost their catch to support Mauna Lani’s community garden growth.
