A Blooming Good Time at Hampton!

With Hampton Court Garden Festival being back to its former self this year, RHS has once again done a tremendous job drawing in the crowds and displaying the most beautiful entries for 2022.

Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2022

For keen gardeners and admirers alike, RHS Hampton Court Garden Festival is always a must-visit for the summer diary. And being the first year where numbers were permitted to be back to normal, post Covid, this popular show didn’t fail to impress.

Numbers were up, the sun shone throughout the week, and the garden displays, although up to their usual high standard, also incorporated subjects currently close to most people’s hearts, from sustainability, to environmental challenges to the Ukraine war.

Gardeners World presenter, Sue Kent, unveiled her entry for this years show. Providing a little haven of scented roses and wild flowers, this garden display was exquisite with it shades of pastels while being comfortable, not too uniformed. The queues to view it, proved it was a most popular choice by the public!

The Flower Marquee was abound with some extraordinary plants and flowers. Some of the succulents had been growing for over 80 years (see below centre cactus!)

But outside, the wild flower meadow trend was certainly reflected in many of the entries. This popular move towards a ‘wilder’ approach and look for a garden, was originally started by HRH Prince Charles at Highgrove in 1982 in his own meadow. He had a vision to help many plant, flower and insect species, while also creating a beautiful vision for a garden of any size. Fast forward to now and see the displays at Hampton Court, and we are clearly following in his Royal footsteps!

This years show, felt like a celebration of life at last getting back to normal, with possibly more keen gardeners than ever…and with the sun even coming out to help celebrate, it was a beautiful week.
